WHY do I love Madonna? I love Madonna because she's a survivor who continues to make music, experiments with different genres, and continually expands her horizons. She constantly strives to learn new things and has no regrets. She's recently embraced her spiritual side so much more. She was the person who first got me interested in dancing. Because of Madonna, I was invited to my first world premiere as a VIP and I met the Broadway lyricist Tim Rice. Most importantly, because of Madonna, I had the guts to choreograph my first piece for Dance Montage. Dancing to Madonna is one of the best feelings in the world.
(Now Old News): Madonna is pregnant with her second child (update: Rocco Ritchie was born August 11th, 2000). The father is boyfriend (now husband) Guy Ritchie. To read more about this, as well as for the opportunity to leave a congratulatory message for Madonna and Guy, click here.
Here is a small commentary I wrote on Madonna a few years back (it is interesting to note that this was written before Ray of Light came out:
I love listening to all sorts of music, with the exception of hard-core country songs. However, I prefer the musical talents of Madonna. Although it is true that many people do not support her societal messages and ideals (and some take them way too seriously), her music has been frequently overlooked in favor of the more shocking and controversial aspects of her work (some of which even I don't necessarily agree with). Many of her songs display creative musical and lyrical abilities, thereby resulting in songs that are both moving and enjoyable to listen to. For instance, who can forget the beautiful melodies of the ballad Live To Tell, or the highly-danceable rhythmic verses of Vogue? In addition, Madonna has established higher standards in the production of music videos and concert tour performances. Her videos often reflect a unique interpretation of the messages present in her songs' vocal and musical components. For example, remember the breathtakingly original 1986 video Open Your Heart (with British boy Felix Howard)? As for her shows, they are an ingenious visual display of exceptional choreography. (My favorite tour was Madonna's 1987 Who's That Girl World Tour), although her Blond Ambition show consisted of beautiful costumes, dancers (loved Luis Camacho), stage sets, and artistical dance moves. Unlike other artists, Madonna places a lot of her individuality and energy in these productions. In addition, she is not afraid to cross traditional female artistical boundaries. In other words, she has the guts to broaden her horizons outwards from the safe and simple "pop tunes" facet. It is highly unfortunate that the public often misunderstands her intentions, and overlooks her contributions to the musical industry.

What is music without dance? Dancing is a great way to alleviate the pressures of everyday life, and it's also a fun form of exercise. I have a feeling for musical rhythm, and can easily recognize movement patterns. I admire Vincent Paterson for his innovative choreography work in Madonna's Blond Ambition tour. Speaking of dancing, Chris Finch (the 13-year old male dancer on Madonna's 1987 Who's That Girl Tour) was an exceptionally talented, soulful, and good-looking dancer. Says Chris, "Dancing doesn't give me confidence, I already have confidence." (I actually managed to learn all his dance moves. It was hard, but fun!) Yeah, dancing is something that comes pretty easy to me. I especially enjoy Madonna's choreography. I think she's the only performer I would love to dance with. I also love entertaining people on stage. Anyways...
Chris Finch graduated from Anaheim California's Loara High School in 1991, and was the senior editor of the yearbook. He also played a lead role in a production of Our Town. When he was 15, he released a single entitled "Sweeter Love" (which is an enjoyable teen pop rap). There is a rumor that he posed for Playgirl, but I can't substantiate this. He is now 29, and is the associate producer of The Rick Dees Show, the number one rated Top Forty radio show in the world. It is broadcast from LA's 102.7 KIIS FM. Chris has appeared in two movies: "Little Bigfoot" and "Dark Breed". Boy, has this guy accomplished lots. Congratulations Chris!
