UNIVERSITY DEGREE, THE UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY - FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT
WORK EXPERIENCE
I currently work full-time as a (actually, the only) Project Manager for a cool
technology/ISP company located in Calgary. I coordinate resources, time, and people to ensure projects get done on time.
As evidenced through my various web sites, I love making web pages.
I was first introduced to the web back in 1995. We didn't have
fancy HTML authoring programs, so I had to learn all the HTML
on my own. I'm glad I did, since one needs to rely on such knowledge
to do those "tweaks" necessary for detailed and
exact web sites. In fact, this entire web site was created in
a text editor. I also just enjoy making web sites on my own
during the little free time I get.
Bachelor of Commerce - Major in Management Information Systems
Nortel Networks - Database Creation, Multimedia Courseware Production
Shell Canada Limited - Y2K Project Assistant, HTML Analyst
Canadian Airlines - Database Analyst, Target Marketing
UPDATE: I've now moved on to working for a huge Alberta bank, and I honestly love it! The work environment is tres cool, and the company does care about its employees. I consider myself extremely
fortunate to be working here.
COMMENTS ON EDUCATION
I enjoyed my University education. The faculty bases itself on developing
a strong foundation in many areas of business as well as an extra focus
on non-business areas. Before one is accepted into the faculty, one has
to complete exceptional studies in optional areas including mathematics,
science, philosophy, English, and more. Once accepted into the faculty, students
are introduced to the gigantic world of business. Accounting, finance,
marketing, operations management, MIS, and more are requirements of a student's
course load. Since I majored in the MIS area, I also have a very firm
grasp of current and evolving technologies. There was also an ample amount
of both individual and group work. Before graduating, everyone is
required to take a course entitled Policy and Environment which serves
to encompass the many facets of business into a challenging problem-solving
course.
