| Die Another Day | Took me a while to get into this one but I'm into it now. |
| Music | "Music makes the people come together..." Yes, it certainly does. |
| Like A Prayer | Beautiful harmonious song. Transmits a sensual and spiritual urgency. |
| Vogue | Frickin' danceable! |
| Dear Jessie | A sweet hidden gem about youth, innocence, and dreams. |
| Ray of Light | Makes one want to scream in joy! |
| The Power of Goodbye | Yes, goodbye is very powerful. This song means a lot to me because I need to just say goodbye to a lot of things in my life. |
| Into The Groove | Madonna may not like this song anymore, but I still like groovin' to it! |
| Who's That Girl | Yeah, it's pop, but I can't resist thinking of Chris Finch and Madonna when I listen to this cutesy number. |
| Open Your Heart | I fell in love with this song once I saw the video and once I saw the young boy (played by Felix Howard). Sweet innocent child, dancing with Madonna into the evening light. |
| I'll Remember | "I'll remember the way that you loved me, now that I'm standing on my own." |
Spice Girls:
| Viva Forever | One of the most moving songs I've ever heard! They say it is about past summer romances, but I personally view this song differently. Anyway, it reminds me to live every moment of my life to the fullest. |
| 2 Become 1 | It may be about safe sex, but I just love the melody! When Melanie C (Sporty) sings "say you believe it", I think to myself "yes, oh yes, I sure do believe it". |
| Spice Up Your Life | Positivity and Fun |
| Who Do You Think You Are | Slammin' dance song with a wicked chorus! Listen to Melanie C's sexy ending lines. Swing it, shake it, move it, make it, trust it, use it, prove it, groove it! Oooh oooh! |
| My Strongest Suit | The Spice Girls didn't write this, Sir Tim Rice did. But it is catchy and makes me want to expand my wardrobe. Also, to me, it has a more deeper meaning inside. |
| Sleigh Ride | A popular Christmas number nicely sung by the Spice Girls. |
Melanie C:
| Northern Star | Wow. A very personal and tenderly-sung number, and it's obviously very powerful. I've heard of many stories where people who have been upset with their lives for whatever reason have felt comforted and warmed by this song. The song itself is actually about Melanie herself. |
| Closer | "Hold me, closer to your dreams, closer to your fears, close to hear your laughter... How tight can you hold me, how long can we stay awake, how hard can we laugh, how much love can we make...??" Oh yeah, baby... |
| Follow Me | Another sensual number that sets my heart pacing. Slow but hauntingly beautiful, if not slightly obsessive. I'd love to follow her everywhere... |
| Suddenly Monday | I first heard this song live at Melanie's solo Toronto show at The Guvernment. It made me so high. Fast cutesy number that sets a different musical tone on Northern Star. If only Melanie knew how much she makes her fans high... |
| Be The One | A light jazzy-infested number that brings to mind Melanie twirling her right index finger in the air as she sings "whoooooo...". I like the sudden downbeat in voice as she sings "moves my heaven and earth". |
Eminem:
| The Real Slim Shady | This is the song that first made me really notice Eminem. It's rap and hella-catchy. Really, I never enjoyed listening to rap until Eminem came along. |
| Stan | Awfully poignant song. The inclusion of Dido is amazing. |
| Purple Hills | Yes, "Hills" not "Pills". Reminds me of London. |
| Without Me | If there's ever a rap song that makes me wanna dance, THIS IS IT! |
| Cleaning Out My Closet | At first I didn't like the chorus, but I admire a guy for singing such content in the chorus of a song. I also love the last verse, although there's also something to be said about forgiveness... |
| Sing For The Moment | Wow... a rap song that also makes me think of God... it's totally ace. |
| Lose Yourself | " Lose yourself in the music, the moment..." Yeah, you got it. |
Savage Garden:
| Santa Monica | This song makes me cry. Because I think we all at times would like to be somebody we are not. |
| Break Me Shake Me | Awesome song to funk and groove to. |
| I Want You | I love how this song starts on the album. It starts with some small "outer-space" music, then the bass line kicks in. Hard. |
| The Animal Song | Another upbeat classic by Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones. Really makes you want to run through the jungle with the wind in your hair. |
| I Knew I Loved You | Just when I thought I preferred Savage Garden's faster numbers, they come out with this gem. Although the meaning may not be entirely realistic, there is just something so touching about the melody and words together that moves me. |
| Affirmation | Listen to this song when you need to be uplifted! |
| Crash and Burn | This song gets to me because we all need to come to someone at times with our weary hearts and just let go in faith and comfort. |
Bee Gees:
| How Deep Is Your Love | A warming love song. "When you come to me on a summer breeze..." |
| Stayin' Alive | Yeah, surprisingly, I'm still alive (and going strong). |
| Too Much Heaven | Will I see you in heaven? |
| You Win Again | The flowing melodies of this song are astounding. The song alternates between up-and-down beats. A very feel-good kinda song. |
| Tradegy | I never was as much into this song until I got hooked on the version by Steps. Now I find it very likeable and catchy. |
Abba:
| Dancing Queen | Why do songs about dance also happen to be so uplifting? I'm a Dancing Queen too. |
| Take a Chance on Me | I love the melody. |
| Fernando | A beautiful song despite it being about a civil war. |
| Super Trouper | Are the lights ever going to find me??? |
| Thank You For The Music | Thank You, Abba, for the music. |
Great Big Sea:
| Ordinary Day | This is a great uplifting Canadian band. "In this beautiful life there's always some sorrow...and it's a double-edged knife but there's always tomorrow. It's up to you now if you sink or swim, just keep your faith and your ship will come in." |
| End of the World | Although I'm not entirely sure of all the words, this is a fast folk number that's sure to get your life energy charged! |
Matchbox 20:
| Real World | I think I understand where a lot of the lyrics from this band come from. Sometimes I myself wonder what it would be like to be a super-hero or the head honcho. Maybe someday I'll find out. |
| 3 am | "It's 3 am, I must be lonely." |
| Push | A tremendous build-up to the main chorus. |
Elton John:
| Sad Songs (Say So Much) | This song actually makes me wanna get up and dance! It's an inspiring song that is also true. |
| Candle in the Wind | I have always liked the original version of this song. |
Carpenters:
| Won't Last a Day Without You | Reminds me of a few people in my life... and also of God. |
| Yesterday Once More | Another song that makes me cry. Makes me think of past days filled with music and more innocence than there is now. |
| Top of the World | If you're feeling low, listen to this song. "Not a cloud in the sky, got the sun in my eye..." |
Aqua:
| Barbie Girl | Cute catchy song. |
| Doctor Jones | Pop fluff, can't get any better than this! |
New Kids on the Block:
| I'll Be Loving You (Forever) | A beautiful number by a group who only self-assured people can admit to liking. |
| Please Don't Go Girl | Joe McIntyre had a beautiful voice. |
Other songs:
| Edwin Alive |
"Ain't it good to be alive..." This song reminds me to thank God every day for the time he gives me here on Earth to breathe, see, listen, feel, and imagine. |
| Chumbawumba Tubthumping |
The story of my life: "I get knocked down, but I get up again..." |
| Boney M Rasputin |
The intro to this song on the Greatest Hits album is AMAZING!!! One of the best instrumental intros ever! |
| Spirit of the West Home for a Rest |
This is a Canadian band. This kick-ass song is about getting drunk in London, something that I may want to try someday... |
| Paul Simon Vincent |
One of my favorite songs. "This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you..." |
| Simon and Garfunkel Mrs. Robinson |
Jesus loves you more than you would know. |
| O Holy Night | A very powerful and poignant song. Especially the part that goes "Fall on your knees, oh hear the angel voices." |
| Corey Hart Never Surrender |
Beautiful tune. "With a little perseverance you can get things done." |
| Bryan Adams Summer of '69 |
A fast uplifting number that also carries the burden of a sad message. Don't let the best days of your life pass you by. |
| Whitney Houston I Wanna Dance with Somebody (who loves me) |
Oh my gosh, do I love this song! It makes me feel really good and hopeful inside, probably because I just love dancing and I'm in love with this melody. |
| Brandy Have You Ever |
Yes, I have loved someone so much it has made me cry. Maybe you can find that person's name on this very page. By the way, thank you to Krysten Blair for making me fall in love with this song. |
| The Jacksons Blame It on the Boogie |
Nice song to disco-dance to. I would say who introduced me to the song, but then she would think I'm nuts. And I wouldn't want her to know the truth, hee hee. |
| Hanson MmmBop |
I've heard this song so many times but I'm still not sick of it. Skilled young voices. |
| Julie Andrews I Have Confidence |
Combine the meaning of this song with Julie Andrew's voice, and you've got a winning combination! |
| Jon Bon Jovi Livin' on a Prayer |
Oh my god, does this song just rock in a moving car!! It's like being on drugs. Not that Mei Mei nor I would know or anything... |
| Heart These Dreams |
Although the dreams may go on when you close your eyes, you must turn your dreams into reality in the daytime. |
| Irene Cara Flashdance... What a Feeling |
This may sound stupid, but I can get very inspired by just listening to the melody/lyrics of this song. |
| Eric Carmen Hungry Eyes |
This song reminds me of Steven Scott, a guy who went to my elementary school (Garden City Elementary School in Richmond Canada). |
| Michael Jackson The Way You Make Me Feel |
The beginning of this song makes me feel high. |
| George Michael I Want Your Sex |
A song whose overall meaning I may not agree with, but whose lyrics are just awesome! "It's natural, it's chemical (can we do it), it's logical, habitual (let's do it), it's sensual, but most of all, sex is something we should do..." Hmm, now why was I not surprised to hear about George and his bathroom incident?!! |
| Glass Tiger Someday |
I find myself constantly rewinding the first few seconds of this song. It's got one of the best drum intros I've ever heard. |
| Backstreet Boys Backstreet's Back |
I really did try not liking these guys. But this song is extremely danceable, and it makes me jump up and down in an ecstatic craze. |
| Chris Finch Sweeter Love |
I love Chris Finch's only release! He was 15 at the time. It can be described as kid rap, but it was done very well. |
| Dead or Alive You Spin Me Round |
Spins me round and round into a psychedelic daze on the dance floor. Gotta love it! |
| Dionne Warwick and Friends That's What Friends Are For |
I love my friends. |
| Bob Seger Old Time Rock and Roll |
Ah, the memories... |
| Huey Lewis and the News The Heart of Rock & Roll |
This song is actually very cool, with regards to its sound effects, lyrics, and slight melody changes. |
| Thompson Twins Hold Me Now |
Reminds me of my high school graduation and how myself, Delicia Johnson, and Nicole Lehman kicked the ceremony's ass with our Historian Speech. We mentioned everyone in our graduating class, even if they themselves wouldn't have returned the favor. |
| Tears For Fears Everybody Wants to Rule The World |
"I want to rule the world." - infamous early quote by Madonna |
| The Police Every Breath You Take |
Although I like Puff Daddy's version, I will always prefer the original 80s sting. |
| Christopher Cross Sailing |
I think this song makes me sentimental for those days when I was a child and had few worries. |
| Garth Brooks The River |
The very first time I heard this song was when some peers were singing it at a conference. I rarely, if ever, fall in love with a song the first time I hear it. But I did with this one. "I'm gonna sail my vessel till the river runs dry." |
| Toto Africa |
I like the melody. |
| All Saints Never Ever |
Okay, I was determined not to like the All Saints and this song. After all, I heard about the All Saints putting down the Spice Girls. I forced myself to listen to this song so I could hear who these "bitches" were. But the more I listened, the more I liked, and now I have the entire album. Hatred works sometimes. |
| Van Morrison Brown Eyed Girl |
"Do you remember when, we used to sing..." |
| Britney Spears ...Baby One More Time |
Thanks to Mr. Mike Rinaldi, I'm in love with this song. But I'm not in love with Britney as Mike is. |
| Abide With Me | A beautiful hymn. I first heard this song on a soccer music CD. But now I am in love with the words and the message: "In life, in death, Oh Lord, abide with me." |
| Queen We Are The Champions |
An excellent team-spirits number. Reminds me of all the people I hung out with on that Toronto weekend, looking for Melanie C. |
| The Four Seasons December '63 (Oh what a Night) |
Reminds me of the Melanie C solo show in Toronto. I blasted this song the evening after I met Melanie C. "What a lady, what a night!" |
| Shakira Estoy Aqui |
Although this song is in Spanish, it is a very happy infectious tune. I love how it starts slowly and then builds into a happy Spanish dance! |
| Beethoven Ode to Joy |
What a great idea for a song! That's what music is for. |
| The Beach Boys Surfin' Safari |
We performed this song in my grade 5 class at Queen Elizabeth Elementary School. |
| Go West | I love this anthem! |
| The Great Escape | Another uplifting anthem. |
| Sky Love Song |
Lovely Canadian duo. This song is a combination of a slow and fast rhythm, and contains a kicking chorus line. |
| Christian Bale Santa Fe |
This song is from the Newsies soundtrack. Even though the subject matter of the song is not exactly poignant, it's still an enjoyable slow song. And I love what Christian sings near the end. |
| The New Radicals You Get What You Give |
It's true. |
| Band-Aid Do They Know it's Christmas |
An excellent build-up to this tune that is gradually making it my favorite tune from the 1985 charity tunes recorded by popular artists at the time. |
| Boy Meets Girl Waiting for a Star |
This tune is just so melodically enjoyable, and has such a memorable 80s pop production. It also reminds me of Melanie C. |
| Westlife Flying Without Wings |
As much as I do not admire Westlife's marketing methods, I must say this song is quite powerful, especially the part "And who's to know, which one you let go, would have made you complete." (talking about dreams) |
| Eminem The Real Slim Shady |
I so didn't want to like Eminem because I usually dislike this kind of music. But his lyrics are smart and the tune is catchy, and now it's one of my most favorite songs! |
| Enrique Escape |
Yo, Dance Montage 2002 anybody??? :-) |
| Shakira Whenever, Wherever |
Reminds me of the MuchMusic 2002 DJ Search, thanks Aaron. |
| Dido Thank You |
Simple song, simple message, amazing results (when said genuinely). |
| Celine Dion A New Day Has Come |
You got to give it to her: She may sing cheesy melodramatic tunes, but they work really well sometimes. |
| Robbie Williams Feel |
"I just want to feel real love, fill the home that I live in, cause' I got too much love running through my veins, going to waste." Yeah. |
| Mister Mister Kyrie |
Reminds me of faith and my personal faith. |
My favorite movies include Garden State (gotta love people who are real and themselves), Love Actually (worth it for that scene where the woman goes around the corner by herself and excitedly celebrates that she just got her man), Bring It On (one of the funniest and enjoyable movies ever, "hey mickey you're so fine you blow my mind hey mickey hey mickey"), Pretty Woman (the ultimate movie by Julia Roberts), The Sound of Music (Rodgers and Hammerstein I have too much admiration for), Newsies (cute guys), SpiceWorld (cute girls), The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off (excellent use of Broderick's laissez-faire expressions), The Sixth Sense, Hackers (the storyline is average, but the fact that the hackers aren't stereotyped as glasses-wearing nerds really impressed me), The Princess Diaries (such a sweet story acted by Anne Hathaway and I love the line "(question: Why me?) Because you saw me when I was invisible", The Professional (Natalie Portman is mesmorizing in this picture), Beautiful Girls (again, Natalie has simple yet very communicative lines and body language), Billy Elliot (*very well* done and go Jamie Bell on a wicked performance), Gia (duh, for Angelina Jolie), Primal Fear, My Cousin Vinny, and Go (intelligent twisting storyline).
My favorite TV shows include Three's Company (the misunderstandings are just too funny and John Ritter played "Jack Tripper" so well), Today's Special (but the puzzles are too easy for me now!), You Can't Do That on Television (loved Alasdair Gillis and Matthew Godfrey), Star Trek: The Next Generation, Hockey Night in Canada (I also love the theme music), and Friends (the characters fit together so well, clever writers this show has). Oh, and The Operation, no, just kidding!
My favorite actors include
Elijah Wood, Sean Penn, Edward Norton, Steve Buschemi,
Ewan McGregor, Zachary Ty Bryan, Brad Renfro, Christian Bale, Philip Seymour Hoffman,
Johnny Lee Miller (LOVED him in Hackers),
Leonardo DiCaprio, Brendan Fraser, Matt Damon, and more.
It is interesting to note that what attracted me first
to these actors was their ability to portray characters
in a realistic light. I found some of them cute to
begin with, but not until they proved they could act
did they get a checkmark in my book. The unfair thing
is that I liked many of these actors WAY before they
became super-famous. I liked Matt Damon right after his
stint as the bad boy on School Ties in 1992.
I liked Leonardo in the late-eighties, following his
role as Luke Brower on Growing Pains.
I liked Elijah Wood as soon as I saw his performance
in Forever Young. Trainspotting introduced
me to Ewan McGregor and I also liked him in Shallow Grave.
To the left is a picture of Elijah Wood.
I also like actors Marco Hofschneider, Nick Stahl, Sean Biggerstaff, Ian Somerhalder, Timothy Olyphant, Tom Guiry, and Hayden Christensen (especially after seeing Life as a House). Look out for these actors in the near future, they are all quite talented in their field (and pretty good-looking as well). Smilie.
My favorite actress is Angelina Jolie. I also like the talent of Natalie Portman, especially in her earlier pictures before Star Wars. Also, I admire females who are comfortable with their sexuality.

Bale.
Although he isn't an actor, I do have a crush on Prince William. I first noticed him way before he became a teen idol. I was watching the local news and there was this young boy with the most big gorgeous smile attending his first day of Eton College. I've been hooked on the lad ever since. :-)
Click here to view a picture of snoggable Prince William with his brother and father.
My favorite animal is the tiger. Probably because I associate it with gritty survival and toughness (Eye of the Tiger). My fighting fish had an attitude and was named Tiger. There is a tiger (stuffed) in my car. I have two very real-looking tigers in my condo - the very large one is named "Chisholm" and the smaller one is named "Chisholm Junior". (If you know me well enough, you will know how I got these names).
Click here to view a picture of a breathtaking snow-white tiger.
My favorite comic is Calvin and Hobbes, as I'm very much like Calvin.
You know, for a kid with such a big imagination, he is also
very smart and "clued up" (same as me, hee hee).
He sometimes views adults as narrow-minded hypocritical beings
who control and limit the dreams of kids, and I think
he's right... with some adults, that is. It's interesting to note
that the author (Bill Watterson) sees Calvin as a naughty little boy,
when in fact Calvin makes some of the smartest and wittiest comments
about the world.
My favorite drink is Vitasoy!!! Well, that's the brand name, but they make all sorts of soy bean drinks, and I love them all! I could live forever on soy bean as a drink.
My favorite fruit is the cherry. Too bad cherry season lasts only a few weeks once a year. And I'm not a cherry-picker. :-)
My favorite hot soup is "bug soup". Well, that's my parents' take on it. They say they don't put bugs in it, but as if parents will admit to such a thing, hee hee. But it's good. Especially when it is steaming hot. (It's not actually "bug soup". It's boiled from a type of plant, but this plant has been known to carry dried bugs that stick to its leaves).
My favorite hangout is actually Chapters! Such a cool place, where you can slob on a sofa and read the latest magazines. For free.
Finally, my favorite activity is to dance. Yeah baby. Booyashka!
